Oncology and Solid Tumors

Oncology is the central area of research interest, with extensive activity across breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, gastric cancer, gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, biliary tract cancer, pancreatic cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and pleural mesothelioma. The sponsor also studies hematologic malignancies including chronic lymphocytic leukemia, mantle cell lymphoma, large B-cell lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute leukemia, and myelodysplastic syndromes.

  • Breast cancer and hormone receptor-positive disease
  • Lung cancer, including EGFR-mutated and HER2-altered disease
  • Ovarian, endometrial, and prostate cancers
  • Hepatobiliary, gastric, pancreatic, and biliary cancers
  • Lymphoma, leukemia, and myeloma

Research also includes advanced solid tumors with specific molecular features such as BRCA alterations, HER2 expression, PD-L1 expression, MET drive, CLDN18.2 expression, and other actionable genomic changes.

Respiratory and Airway Disease

Another major area is respiratory medicine, especially asthma across adult and pediatric populations, including severe eosinophilic asthma, uncontrolled asthma, and oral corticosteroid-dependent asthma. The portfolio also covers chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis, interstitial lung disease, severe viral lung infections, and respiratory syncytial virus and human metapneumovirus infections.

  • Severe asthma and eosinophilic airway inflammation
  • COPD and exacerbation prevention
  • Bronchiectasis and chronic airway infection
  • Upper and lower airway inflammatory disease
  • Viral respiratory infections

Studies also address allergic and inflammatory airway disease in children and adults, with interest in reducing respiratory exacerbations and improving lung function.

Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic Disease

The sponsor funds research in cardiovascular disease and renal medicine, including heart failure, pulmonary hypertension due to left heart disease, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, resistant hypertension, primary aldosteronism, chronic kidney disease, albuminuria, renal impairment, and end stage kidney disease. It also studies type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, and overweight conditions linked to cardiometabolic risk.

  • Heart failure and related hemodynamic disease
  • Chronic kidney disease and albuminuria
  • Hypertension and aldosterone-related disorders
  • Dyslipidemia and familial hypercholesterolaemia
  • Obesity and type 2 diabetes

Additional work includes cardiorenal disease, hyperkalaemia, and metabolic liver disease such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.

Immunology, Inflammation, and Autoimmune Disorders

There is substantial activity in autoimmune disease and immune-mediated inflammation, including systemic lupus erythematosus, lupus nephritis, cutaneous lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic sclerosis, idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and hypereosinophilic syndrome. The sponsor also studies inflammation in eosinophilic esophagitis and Crohn’s disease.

  • Systemic lupus erythematosus and lupus nephritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis and systemic sclerosis
  • Eosinophilic and inflammatory disorders
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Immune system dysregulation

Research also includes autoimmune skin disease, muscle inflammation, and immune-mediated organ involvement.

Infectious Disease, Hemostasis, and Other Specialty Areas

Additional research spans infectious disease, including COVID-19, Clostridioides difficile infection, sepsis-associated acute kidney injury, and severe viral lung infections. The sponsor also investigates hemostasis and anticoagulation reversal, alongside healthy volunteer studies and pharmacokinetics work in selected populations.

  • Clostridioides difficile infection recurrence
  • COVID-19 and viral respiratory infection
  • Sepsis-related kidney injury
  • Anticoagulation reversal and bleeding control
  • Healthy volunteer and pharmacokinetic studies

Other areas include liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, metabolic liver disease, and rare genetic conditions such as neurofibromatosis type 1 and dilated cardiomyopathy.
