“Sotiria” Chest Disease Hospital, Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

The 3rd Cardiology Department at Sotiria Chest Disease Hospital is conducting research in cardiovascular diseases, with a focus on improving care for patients at risk of serious heart and blood vessel complications. The trials explore both prevention strategies and better treatment options for common and high-risk cardiovascular conditions.

• Stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation occurring after stress, such as noncardiac surgery or acute medical illness
• Management of established cardiovascular disease and high cardiovascular risk
• Better control of hypertension to reduce major cardiovascular events

These studies are designed to evaluate whether new approaches can lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, vascular complications, and heart failure-related events, while also helping refine treatment decisions for patients with complex cardiovascular profiles.
