Ongoing Clinical Trials for Lung Adenocarcinoma

There are currently 3 ongoing clinical trials investigating new treatments for lung adenocarcinoma. These studies are testing various immunotherapy and chemotherapy combinations in patients with advanced disease. Study Comparing Atezolizumab and Drug Combination with Pembrolizumab and Drug Combination for Patients with Advanced Lung Cancer

This trial is comparing two different treatment combinations for patients with metastatic TTF-1 negative lung adenocarcinoma. TTF-1 is a protein normally found in lung cancer cells, and when it is absent, the cancer may behave differently and require specific treatment approaches.

Main inclusion criteria: Patients must be at least 18 years old with confirmed metastatic stage IV non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer that tests negative for TTF-1. They must also test negative for specific genetic changes called EGFR mutations and ALK rearrangements. Additionally, patients need to have a PD-L1 tumor proportion score below 50%, adequate liver, kidney, and bone marrow function, and an ECOG performance status of 0 or 1, meaning they are fully or mostly active. They must also have a life expectancy of at least 12 weeks and measurable cancer according to standard criteria.

Main exclusion criteria: Patients outside the specified age range or those who do not fit the specific clinical trial groups cannot participate. Vulnerable populations may also be excluded from the study.

Focus and goal: The study aims to compare survival rates between two treatment groups. One group receives atezolizumab combined with carboplatin and nab-paclitaxel, while the other receives pembrolizumab with a platinum-based drug and pemetrexed. Study on Atezolizumab, Carboplatin, and Etoposide for Adults with Advanced Large-Cell Neuroendocrine Lung Cancer

This trial is studying the treatment of large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma, an aggressive type of lung cancer characterized by large, abnormal cells that grow and spread quickly.

Main inclusion criteria: Patients must be at least 18 years old with a diagnosis of locally advanced or metastatic large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the lung that cannot be cured with surgery. If the cancer has mixed types, the neuroendocrine component should make up at least 50%. Patients should not have received previous systemic therapy, although those who had curative treatment and experienced cancer recurrence at least 6 months later can participate. They must have an ECOG performance status of 0 to 2 and adequate organ function, including appropriate levels of liver enzymes, bilirubin, creatinine, neutrophils, and platelets.

Main exclusion criteria: Patients who received other cancer treatment within the last 4 weeks, those with severe allergic reactions to study drugs, active infections requiring treatment, serious medical conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those who participated in another trial within the last 4 weeks cannot join. Patients with a history of another cancer type (unless in remission for at least 5 years), untreated brain metastases, or unstable autoimmune diseases are also excluded. A history of drug or alcohol abuse within the last 12 months is also grounds for exclusion.

Focus and goal: The study evaluates how well a combination of atezolizumab with platinum-based chemotherapy (carboplatin or cisplatin) and etoposide works in improving patient survival. The treatment is given in cycles through intravenous infusion, with regular monitoring to assess cancer response and manage side effects. The trial will continue until January 2029.

This trial is testing a new medication called BI 907828 in patients with several types of advanced cancer, including lung adenocarcinoma. The study focuses on patients with specific genetic characteristics.

Main inclusion criteria: Patients must be at least 18 years old with advanced lung adenocarcinoma that cannot be removed by surgery. They should have tried all standard treatments that could help. Critically, patients must have specific genetic markers: MDM2 amplification (a type of genetic change) and TP53 wild-type status (a normal version of a specific gene), confirmed through tissue testing. Investigational drugs: BI 907828 is an investigational medication that works by inhibiting the MDM2 protein. This inhibition can activate the p53 tumor suppressor pathway, potentially stopping cancer cell growth. It is specifically designed for cancers with MDM2 amplification and TP53 wild-type status.
